Kenneth M. Wheeler, age 93, went home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 24, 2010. He was born February 10, 1916 in Meeker, Colorado to Fred D. and Dorothy (Hessie) Wheeler . It was in Bakersfield, CA where he met and later married his beloved wife Virginia Wright on October 10, 1936. Ken was a builder/developer in California until moving to Whatcom County in 1966 where he continued his career as a residential developer in the Ferndale area. Musically gifted, he enjoyed playing the saxophone in dance bands and in the church orchestra. Hunting and fishing were his favorite outdoor hobbies. Ken attended Word of Life Church in Lynden.
Preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia, in 2009; he is survived by daughters, Lavona (Paul) Ring and Marilyn (Richard) Sievers both of Ferndale; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brother, Keith Wheeler of Morrow Bay, CA and sister, Vivian Wegis of Bakersfield, CA.
Graveside services will be Thursday, January 28, 1:00 pm in Monumenta Cemetery followed by a 2:00 pm memorial service in Gillies Funeral Home Chapel, 202 Front St., Lynden with Pastor Glenn Williams officiating.
